The village of Archaia Epidavros
In Mycenaean times, Epidavros was a large place with a population of 80,000. Today it is a small fishing village on the Saronic Gulf and east coast of the Peloponnese with about 2,000 inhabitants, who live mainly from agriculture and fishing and in the summer from tourism.
There are several small beaches, taverns, restaurants, bars, a post office, ATMs, stores, campsites and many hotels and apartments. It is “us knows us” here in the village. That makes it friendly and makes you feel welcome.

About us, Nienke & Michel
“There is always a choice. No challenge is too big, and that’s precisely why you create freedom.”
In the spring of 2023, we, Nienke de Boer and Michel van Doorn, bought our villa in Greece.
After many vacations and tours of the Peloponnese, we quickly knew: should there ever be an opportunity to find a place here, we would seize it with both hands.
During the summer of 2022, we took stock. With four children living away from home, a seven-year-old daughter at home, a thriving goldsmith shop with two branches and a bed & breakfast in our newly renovated house in Friesland, our lives were filled with work, sociability and beautiful choices. Yet we felt it was time for the next step.
A drink at a Greek friend’s house in Metsovo eventually brought us to Epidaurus, where we found our new home. Here we now run our villa with three comfortable studios and apartments, offering guests an oasis of peace and privacy amid olive and citrus trees.
New ambitions
Changing times, the realization that life moves quickly and the increasing difficulty of finding skilled personnel made our decision final: we were going to change course.
In an environment full of space, tranquility and culture, we are inspired to make people happy again. Overlooking the sea and mountains, we run a small-scale vacation resort where personal attention is paramount. On our grounds of 9,000 m² grow orange and lemon trees and more than 130 olive trees, from which we produce and sell our own olive oil.
Our strength lies in combining creativity, craft and culinary hospitality. For us, this is called: freedom.
We look forward to welcoming you to one of our lodgings!
Restaurant Michel – Fine Greek Seafood Cuisine
In the same location you will find Restaurant Michel, which we opened in July 2024. The restaurant is open exclusively by reservation and offers an intimate setting with up to six tables.
We serve a sophisticated Fine Greek Seafood Cuisine menu – dishes inspired by Greek cuisine, but with a creative and culinary twist. From carefully selected local produce to seven-course fine dining, we take our guests on a flavorful journey in a unique setting, overlooking the mountains and the sea.
For convenience, we offer free cab transportation from the village for our guests.

Trip & Itinerary
From Athens it is about an hour and a half drive to your apartment with us at Archaia Epidavros. At Corinth, from the highway (the A8), take exit 10 towards Epidavros. At the end of the exit ramp, turn left. Coming from the direction of Patras, also take exit 8 and turn right at the end of the exit.
You then follow the provincial road for about 55 kilometers. You will pass several villages/towns and the road meanders somewhat through the beautiful mountain area along the coast.
After about 50km, you first pass the village of Nea Epidavros. You then follow the road for a few more kilometers and at some point you will see restaurant STORK on the left side of the road with panoramic views of our village. Here is a left turn to get into the center of Archaia Epidavros. Do NOT take this exit.
You pass Stork and after 2 km there is the exit Archaia Epidavros. At the end of the exit ramp, turn left and drive under the overpass. After about 150 meters you will approach a traffic circle. Here, go straight ahead.
After 20 meters you will see on the right just before a closed tavern, a narrow mountain road uphill to the right. Enter this road and drive all the way up. The road is steep and often it is wise to turn off the air conditioning for a while so that you have enough engine power to drive slowly uphill.
Orange Apartments’ signs along this mountain road will point you in the right direction at the 2 junctions. After 400 meters you will be at the top of the parking lot.
After you unpack and park your car, we will be happy to welcome you with a fresh Greek delicacy.
